Free for everyone, no account needed: the Martyn's Law tier checker and the staff demo. Without a plan (before you choose one, or after a plan ends) you can set up your first venue, print its stickers and view and export every record you've kept; staff can log checks and reminders go out once a plan or trial is on. Questions about plans
At the muster point
Is Muster a fire risk assessment?
No. Your fire risk assessment is a written assessment of your premises by you or a competent assessor. Muster keeps the records that show you're maintaining the fire safety measures it relies on (tests, servicing, drills, training and faults) and reminds you when the assessment is due for review.
Do staff need an account or an app?
No. Staff scan the QR sticker with their phone camera, enter your four-digit venue PIN once, pick their name and tap the result. Nothing to install, no passwords to forget.
What happens if someone enters the wrong PIN?
After five wrong attempts from the same phone, the logging page locks for 15 minutes. You can change the PIN at any time, which also signs out every phone that used the old one.
Why does it suggest a different call point each week?
GOV.UK's fire safety guide for small premises in England says to test the fire alarm using a different manual call point each week (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own guidance with similar intervals). Muster suggests the call point that was tested longest ago, so every one gets tested in rotation.
Will Muster make us compliant with Martyn's Law?
Muster helps you prepare: it works out your likely tier, guides you through writing public protection procedures, records staff briefings and lists what you'll need to notify the SIA. Whether your arrangements are appropriate is for you (and ultimately the regulator) to judge - Muster is guidance and record-keeping, not legal advice.
When does Martyn's Law come into force?
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 received Royal Assent on 3 April 2025. The government expects its main duties to come into force in spring 2027, after an implementation period of at least 24 months. The Notification Requirements Regulations 2026 then give existing premises in scope three months to notify the SIA. We watch the official guidance and email Muster customers when it changes.
Can I print our records for the fire officer?
Yes. The inspection pack bundles your venue details, the last 12 months of checks, faults and actions, contractor visits, drills, training records and your procedures into one printable document - save it as a PDF in one click. It holds the records a fire officer usually asks to see; keep your fire risk assessment alongside it.
How does the free trial work?
Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. You add a card at Stripe's secure checkout, nothing is taken for 14 days, and if you cancel before then you pay nothing. The trial is once per account. You can sign up, set up your first venue and print your QR stickers before you choose a plan; staff can log checks once your plan or trial is on.
We have more than five venues. What does that cost?
Multi-site covers up to five venues. Each venue over five is £5 a month (or £50 a year on annual billing), and you add them yourself on the billing page, as many as you need.
Can I cancel, and can I get a refund?
Cancel any time from the billing portal in a couple of clicks: your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for and you won't be charged again. Payments aren't refundable. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends: every record stays there to view and export (log book spreadsheet and inspection pack), but staff can't log new checks and reminders stop until you choose a plan again.
